License Classes

So You Want To Be A HAM!

The Oro Valley Amateur Radio Club offers Technician License Classes based on the number of requests and the availability of instructors. Classes are held one night per week for 6 weeks from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.  At the last class the FCC License Test is administered.  Students are required to purchase the class textbook - Technician Class 2014-2018 License Preparation by Gordon West, WB6NOA. The class is free to OVARC members.  There is a $15 test fee required by the ARRL.

Classes are held either at the Oro Valley Police EOC in the Oro Valley Marketplace, the Marana Community Building at I-10 and Ina, or at the Marana Town Hall complex based on student demographics. 


Monthly Amateur Radio License Testing

License Testing

OVARC provides monthly sessions to administer FCC license testing for new Technician licenses and General and Extra upgrade licences.  

When: First Saturday of every month at 10:30am.  

What to Bring:

Where: Oro Valley Police Department Emergency Operations Center, 1920 E Tangerine Rd., Oro Valley, AZ.  This is in the Oro Valley Marketplace on the corner of Tangerine and North Oracle Rd in Oro Valley.   Go to the rear of the building just west of Wal-Mart.

The March testing session will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church in Oro Valley.

The November testing session will be held at the Tucson Hamfest on November 11.

Cost: The ARRL testing fee is $15.00.  Make checks payable to "ARRL"
