License Classes

So You Want to Be a Ham!


The Oro Valley Amateur Radio Club offers Technician License Classes based on the number of requests and the availability of instructors. Classes are held one night per week for 6 weeks from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.  After the last class, the FCC License Test will be offered.  Students are required to purchase the class textbook – ARRL Radio License Manual. The class fee is $25 and the ARRL charges a $15 fee for the test.

Classes may be held at one of these locations depending on student demographics:

Marana Community Building at I-10 and Ina

Marana Town Hall Complex

The Ascension Lutheran Church Campus at McGee and La Canada.

When:

First Saturday of every month starting promptly at 10:30 am. Test applicants who are more than 15 minutes late will not be seated for the test.

Cost: The ARRL testing fee is $15.00. Please bring exact change. Make checks payable to "ARRL"

ATTN: General class license applicants

As of July 1, 2019 the new question pool for the General class license will take effect. Please insure that the study material you are using covers the new tests as any old study material will be invalid.
