Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail - TR13

April 16, 2016

The club will be activating Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail as W7AI on April 16, 2016 using HF CW, SSB, and digital modes as part of the ARRL National Parks on the Air Program. More information on the National Parks on the Air program can be seen at https://npota.arrl.org/index.php

We plan to be at the picnic ramada at the southeast corner of Christopher Columbus Park on Silverbell just south of Camino del Cerro at 8 AM (see map here). The ramada is right next to the bike trail which also happens to be Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail (TR13). We will be operating Field Day style with portable antenna, 100 watts on SSB, CW, and PSK. Our first operation found success on 20 and 40 meters. We hope to be on the air from 9 AM to 4 PM.

We intend to operate 1 transmitter at a time so we don’t need to worry about filters and interference.  The operator for each shift will be able to pick the mode and bands they intend to operate.  Logging will be via N1MM in DXpedition mode. Lunch will NOT be provided so please plan to bring your own.  The planning committee will provide all equipment but if you want to try out your own, you are welcome to bring it.
