An Introduction to Engineering Fundamentals of Lightning Protection - with Historical Notes

Presented by Leon Byerley of Lightning Protection Technology

Leon Byerley was employed at the Langmuir Laboratory for Atmospheric Research as an undergraduate student at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Not long after graduation with a B.S. in Chemistry, he was employed by the University of Arizona spinoff company then known as Lightning Location and Protection where he worked as the Engineering Manager for about 10 years. Since 1990, he has worked as an independent consultant for many commercial, industrial and government clients on problems involving lightning safety and lightning protection. As an independent consultant, he has also designed several types of lightning detectors and electric field meters at least two of which are in current production.
