DX'ing Jupiter

Presented by David Iadevaia, KF7MZY

David Iadevaia KF7MZY, recently retired professor of astronomy and physics from Pima College, will speak on DXing Jupiter. He will cover a brief history of radio astronomy and the hams who made major contributions and discoveries in the field...the science behind celestial radio bursts and the equipment needed to receive them. He will explain his basic setup using a typical HF receiver and simple wire dipole antenna that he uses to receive the galactic background radiation, Jupiter bursts and solar emissions. You will be amazed at how easy it is to become involved in radio astronomy with equipment you probably already own and use everyday and free programs available to predict and record radio bursts. Examples of current bursts he received will be presented. After hearing this talk static will never sound the same again!
