All About MESH Networks

Presented by Mike Boger K7BUM

AREDN Final Logo 0So what is a Mesh Network and what can you do with it? How does it help us in our communications and our emergency planning?

Well, a Mesh Network includes things like Nodes, Firmware and of course antennas. Like other networks, Mesh Networks include routers. Mike will discuss Linksys vs. Ubiquiti vs. Netgear.  He will also point out the differences between Broadband Hamnet and AREDN and will also show you the existing Pima County / Southern Arizona Mesh Network. Several clubs are participating in building out the Mesh Network locally including RST. ARCA is also involved in the project. Perhaps OVARC might join in.

Mike Boger, K7BUM, is a Tucson native and is the Deputy Home Stations Manager for the Pima County Office of Emergency Management Communication Group. He is an IT Specialist for 25 years with Texas Instruments specializing in enterprise storage and data protection.
