March 9, 2013

#1.  The revised OVARC By-Laws document was approved by the OVARC Board of Directors at a regularly scheduled board meeting on March 1, 2014.  The revised By-Laws document will be posted on the club web site for review by all interested members.  Copies will also be available at this month's general session club meeting on March 21, 2014.  All OVARC members are urged to review the By-Laws revisions and submit comments directly to club president Bob by email at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  The general membership will be asked to vote on the new By-Laws at the April 2014 meeting.

#2.  The OVARC Board is still seeking response from club members regarding the institution of a DSTAR Special Interest group within OVARC.  This group will sponsor the development and addition of the DSTAR communication technology to the existing club repeater network infrastructure.  The club engineering team is exploring alternative, more cost effective ways to acquire DSTAR equipment in order to avoid investing a significant amount in the system upgrade.  To date a few members have signed up for the group, however, more interested parties are still needed to move forward with the project.  Please contact Bob at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or any OVARC board member if you are interested in joining the DSTAR Special Interest group.

#3.  OVARC will be attending the RST Hamfest on March 29, 2014 as a seller and supporter of the event.  We are still looking for a few volunteers to help run the club's sale table.  Please consider helping out for a few hours at the RST Hamfest this month.  Those OVARC members that can help should contact David by email at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  Time is running out to get on board with this event so please contact David or any board member ASAP.

#4.  Our Sunday NET Manager, Lanny KF7LV, still needs a few more volunteers who are interested in becoming NET Control Operators.  The more operators he has on the rotation, the fewer the times per month each NCS will be scheduled.  Why not give it a try and volunteer 1 hour on a Sunday to help support the OVARC Sunday NET.  Contact Lanny by email at  This email address is being protected from spambots.
