#1.  At the February 2014 General Session OVARC meeting the forming of a DSTAR Special Interest group within our club was proposed.  This group would be formed to support the addition of DSTAR to the OVARC repeater network.  Our OVARC President is looking to be contacted by club members who are seriously interested in being part of this group, with the expectations that there will be enough people to warrant moving forward with the proposal.  Those members interested in forming the DSTAR Special Interest group need to contact Bob by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  to get involved.

#2.  At this month's regular OVARC Board Meeting held on March 1, the group voted to continue using Group Spaces for managing our club membership information and getting messages out to the club.  Continuing to use Group Spaces will avoid having to institute yet another club email system and add to the confusion of multiple electronic messaging systems.

#3.  Also at the March 1 OVARC Board Meeting the board voted to approve the new OVARC By-Laws revision as previously mentioned.  Having been approved by the Board of Directors, the revised By-Laws will now be posted on the club website for review by the general membership.  Voting on the revised By-Laws by the general membership will take place after any questions or comments regarding the changes have been sent to the OVARC president and reviewed.  The membership voting will take place during a regularly scheduled general session meeting.  Members wishing to comment on the revisions should do so in writing directly to Bob at  This email address is being protected from spambots. #2.  It is official!  The first OVARC club meeting of 2014 will be held at our new location, the Ascension Lutheran church.  All plans for the move to the new location have been finalized, and we are ready to kick off the new year with a fantastic new meeting place.  The church is located at the intersection of Magee & LaCanada roads, and details may be found on the OVARC web site.  A stellar presentation will be given by Scott K7ADX on the basics of DSTAR.  If you have ever wanted to know more about this relatively new mode of digital amateur radio communications, the January OVARC club meeting is the place to be.  Make sure to join us for Scott's presentation at our new meeting location in January 2014.  The meeting time is still 7:00 PM Arizona time, so don't be late!

#3.  As you all know, our Golder Ranch repeater has been un-linked from the OVARC network for quite some time due to technical difficulties and other obstacles.  OVARC president Bob, KA7VPR has received word that work on the project to improve and re-link the Golder Ranch UHF repeater is nearing completion, and the machine will be back on-line shortly.  Make sure to watch for notification on the OVARC reflector and listen to the Sunday NET for service restoration updates.  The OVARC Board of directors would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding regarding the Golder Ranch repeater situation. We also specifically thank David, KC0LL for all of his time, dedication, and perseverance during this challenge.
